A circular economy is a economic midel in which natural resources are consumed only within the limits of the Earth ‘s carrying capacity. In a circular economy, products ans business models are designed so that materials remain in circulation for as long as possible.

The goal is not to recycle, but rather to minimise the amount of waste than ends up needing to be recycled.

In spring 2021, the Finnish Government approved a strategic programme to promote a circular economy.

The goal is to create a new foundation for transitioning to a circular economy by 2035. By introducing thi programme, the government want to strengthen Finland’s role as a pioneer in the circular economy.
